I live in an apartment building and they recently replaced our outside overhead lights. Changed from a soft orange glow to a really bright fluorescent. My cat used to go out walking at night and now she won't leave the front door the lights have completely flipped her out she sits in front of the door and stares at them and won't walk and I think she's depressed because of it. Any body else have this type problem, any suggestions?

Hello Kathleen
I'm sorry your cat won't go outside for a walk due to the bright overhead lights.
I recommend temporarily closing the blinds to block her view and minimize her distress.
If your cat is free-roaming, it may be worth providing an additional exit and entry point through a window into your home.
Use toys, treats, or brushing to distract her before the bright lights are turned on.
You can also try gradually desensitising and counter-conditioning her to the lights.
Finally, consider plugging in a Feliway diffuser and playing calming music to help keep her relaxed.
I hope some of these suggestions are helpful!
