Hi, there is some backstory that I have to layout. I have 2 cats. The one of interest here is kind of a sickly cat. She has Asthma, she has digestive issues often.
Recently she had a teeth cleaning and during that her eye got a little scratch. So I had to give her eye drops. She didn't particularly like the eye drops but we got through it. Then she ended up a couple days later having a bad bout of diarrhea twice, she seemed to either feel pain or be scared and started running all over the place and getting it everywhere. We went to the emergency vet, and they ended up chocking it up to stress.
The vet rechecked her eye and it had healed. Then for a few days she didn't poo at all, she finally used the little and I thought we were over it and free.
Well I started a new job with normal 8-5 hours and now she doesn't poo often but when she does its on the floor. Two times it has been really soft and liquid one time is was too hard I thought she was constipated.
All this to say, I don't know if it's medical or if its behavioral. If it is behavioral is it litter avoidance because of the diarrhea or separation anxiety or just not handling the change in routine well. If its medical I don't know if its diet or stress or dehydration or what, but the vets always says she appears healthy and shes had like every blood test and ultrasound in the last few months.
I could really use some advice or guidance here, I just don't know how to help her.
Just some more info, I have 4 litterboxes for two cats, I clean the litters 2 times a day each, and I have tried separating the cats to make sure the other one wasn't a stressor with no luck.
Hi Glockodile, thanks for the background info. Has this cat with the digestive issues had a longer history of stool problems going back earlier than what you described? How old is she? Litter box avoidance with stools can sometimes be related to associating discomfort with having a bowel movement with the litter box. Perhaps that occured during the time you're describing. You did mention testing being done, but what kinds of treatments may have already been tried or discussed?
