Hello everyone

My 13yr old cat has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism.  Unfortunately, radioactive iodine treatment is not available in South Africa that I know of as this would have been my first choice.  She has lost quite a bit of weight and has been on the Hill t/c diet for just over a week and a half, so I know it's still early days.   I do not want to put her on medication as giving her a tablet every day will be extremely stressful for her as she is a very anxious cat (previous abuse by someone else).  She was previously on the urinary care prescription diet as she was getting bladder infections.

I know that for the Hills t/c diet to work, not other food or treats should be given.  I was however wondering if free-range chicken breast can be boiled in water only and shredded.  No added salt or anything else, just water and chicken, or broth made from boiled chicken feet (strain the broth for adding to hills canned food)

I have tried searching this online but cannot find any conclusive answers on whether it would be ok.

I would prefer to try and see if I can improve her health with diet before opting for surgery or medication.  So please do not suggest these as I am asking about the diet options.

Thank you

We wrap the pill in a piece of cheese.  I really don't like Hills alphabet foods.
