We just adopted an 8 month old kitten about one month ago. She has been to the vet, is very healthy, loves my grandchildren, is friendly and overall is adjusting well. Hailey has a wonderful disposition and is the only pet we have but she doesn't love being in her carrier. We have a vacation scheduled soon and I am unsure how to handle a particular situation. Leave or bring with??? The vacation would involve a 10-12 hour drive, and staying in an AirBnB. My husband doesn't think she would like the carrier for that length of time at all and I tend to agree. But I don't want to cause her stress by driving that long. My daughter has agreed to come to the house twice a day for a visit to play, feed, and generally "check on" Hailey if we decided to leave her at home. Each visit would probably last less than an hour. I know she enjoys our home and is happy here but I guess I am not sure which situation would cause her more stress- being away from home and with us (left alone in the AirBnB much of the day) or stay where she feels safe but only limited visits each day. Which situation would be less stressful for her? Please advise. Thank you.
