Hi,

I was wondering if you could kindly do a Cindy's Recipe Cat food review. It would be much appreciated if you could have a look.

Thank You.

It is best to feed kitten food until your kitten stops growing. Adult cat food may contain lower levels of protein and certain nutrients kittens need to develop properly. It shouldn't be a problem to feed him something with fish for a few months until you're able to transition him onto an adult recipe, if that's the best option for you.

Hello! It looks like Cindy’s Recipe is made primarily in Italy, thought some product lines are made elsewhere (like tuna-based recipes in Thailand, others in France or Germany). The brand does appear to prioritize complete and balanced nutrition (according to FEDIAF standards) and human-grade ingredients, so that’s good. It’s also nice that there’s such a wide variety of products to choose from.

Overall, I prefer Cindy’s Recipe wet cat foods to the dry foods. Cindy’s dry foods seem to rely primarily on animal-sourced protein and fat but they’re still pretty high in carbohydrates. I see a lot of corn and peas which cats can only digest in limited amounts, as well as potatoes which aren’t particularly rich in nutrients.

As for the wet foods, there are lots of good choices. The Signature line is mostly salmon but the recipes average over 50% dry matter protein and are low in carbs. The Complete Pate line seems to be a cheaper option, made with meat and meat derivatives instead of named proteins. This doesn’t necessarily make it low-quality, but it could be an issue if your cat has food allergies and you need to avoid certain proteins. The food is still moderately high in protein (over 35%) and low in carbs.

Generally speaking, I’d say Cindy’s wet cat foods are a pretty good option. The only word of caution I’d give is that purely fish-based diets aren’t ideal for cats. If you can find a poultry- or meat-based recipe and rotate it with the fish formulas, that could work. Or use another brand as your cat’s staple and one of Cindy’s fish formulas as a meal topper or mixer.

Hope that helps! Feel free to ask about specific products if you want me to take a look… I just wanted to give you a general overview of my thoughts on the brand.

Thanks so much for your quick review.

I have a 5 month year old british longhair kitten (my first cat) and i live in malaysia and so far with the grain free choices I have been feeding him carnilove turkey and salmon kitten as a staple and adding cindys signature salmon kitten as a side with additional original kitten choices as a topper. I wasnt sure if the cindys complete, favourite or favourite+ was a good addon and you definitely answered that. Will probably look at the complete range instead for non fish. Will get the beef pate to try as he has no allergies so far as a rotation.

Kitten choices here are quite limited alot of them have added fish..and Carnilove only has 1 choice for kitten. The adult options (non fish) look good but i am not sure if he is allow to eat those as i read you should only feed kitten food for kitten? Is that correct? Or can he have them? I tried emailing carnilove but got no reponse.
