Hello , I need your help !!!

My cat just got spayed, and at first she ate then after a couple of days she had a 40 degree fever and some fluid build up in her wound area. After we returned from the vet she started eating normally then she lost her energy so we thought she had a fever again so we took here to the vet again after that she stopped eating and barley eats treats , after a couple of days of this behavior we took her to the vet again , we waited because we thought it was just due to the increased change in her environment because she was going to the vet a lot . after we took her she stayed with them for 3 days they gave her IV and food they said that she was really stubborn and eats when she want and doesn’t when she wants but she started eating wet food again. We brought her back home then she ate a treat and were glad , later on she threw up 3 time and it was yellow and now she just ate a little treat didn’t even finish it . This is really concerning because she use to eat a lot even when we eat dinner or lunch she bothers us and takes food from our hand . Is this her being stubborn due to a change in the environment of is there a medical reason?)

Thank you for following your instincts and taking her to a different vet. She will be eternally grateful, and so am I.

Wishing her a speedy recovery

All the best

Hello Abdulrahman

I'm sorry to hear that you and your cat are struggling after her spaying.

It's normal for cats to decrease their appetite for a few days following neutering due to pain and anesthesia. However, a prolonged refusal (more than 48 hours) to eat and vomiting, especially if your cat was previously a good eater, are concerning symptoms.

It seems that your cat is not being stubborn; she may be trying to communicate that something is wrong health-wise, particularly since she had a 40-degree fever and fluid buildup in the wound area. This situation is likely medically related and requires a follow-up with a veterinarian.

In the meantime, try warming up your cat’s wet food to enhance its aroma, as this can make it more appealing. You might also consider offering boiled or cooked chicken and fish. Small, frequent meals and hand feeding may also encourage her to eat. Keep the home environment calm; soothing classical music in the background can promote relaxation.

Always trust your instincts. If her appetite and normal behaviour don't improve this week, return to the original vet or seek a second opinion from another veterinarian.

Sending you and your cat positive healing vibes.

All the best,
Melina
