My cat Milo (12 yo male ginger) has always slept in his basket but has suddenly refused to go anywhere near it. I don't mind as such, but I'm a really bad sleeper and he (12 kilos) has to take up most of the bed by sleeping diagonally, dreams and kicks, he also talks in his sleep and snores. I've had the old one dry cleaned and have tried a new one, but nothing works.

Hello, and thank you for reaching out about your ginger cat, Milo.
There must be a good reason why Milo has stopped using his basket after so many years. I’m unsure where it’s located, so it’s worth investigating its position and discovering why he abandoned it. Dry cleaning would have removed his scent, making it even less appealing now.
You can collect some of his pheromones from his cheeks and head and rub them onto his new basket. Additionally, you can place catnip, or Silvervine sticks inside to entice him back. Another option is to relocate his basket to a different area, perhaps closer to your bed, if he enjoys sleeping with you.
You could also make your bed less appealing and use positive reinforcement by rewarding him with treats when he spends time in his basket.
If nothing seems to work, consider closing your bedroom door. However, this could exacerbate Milo’s frustration, and he may cry at night.
I hope some of the above suggestions are helpful.
