I've always used the instinct wet kitten food for my cat but recently I noticed theres a new recipe, the old one smelled and looked very meaty as the new ones look over cooked with a strong smell... did they get bought up by a different company maybe? and is the adult wet cat food still the same?  if you could help I appreciate it thanks!

Hello! I've found some comments online about formula changes but wasn't able to find any specific information from Instinct about the change. The company's ownership hasn't changed. When did you originally start buying the food? Just trying to pinpoint when the change might have happened.

Did you buy the food from the same place you usually do? I've found that sometimes the way the food is stored prior to shipping affects the consistency.

@kate Until 2 months ago it was the old recipe, but I've been using this brand since he was a little kitten 10 months ago. And yep thought so too with the storage of the food but its from the same 3 places I always bought it from

Hmm, it sounds like you may be right about a formula change, then. Other customers seem to be having similar issues.

If your kitten is about a year old now, you can probably start transitioning him onto an adult or all life stages diet. If he hasn't had the adult Instinct food yet, there may be no issue switching to that. Otherwise, we have some recommendations you might look into here: https://cats.com/reviews/best-canned-cat-food
