My cat Izzy's food is on backorder for the foreseeable future, and I wondered if you knew of a comparable replacement for Hill's prescription diet w/d multi-benefit wet cat food - canned. Thanks!

Hi Chelsie,

Thank you for contacting us with your question.

That’s a shame about your cat Izzy’s food but don’t worry there’s many other foods out there that are suitable for diabetic cats. The main thing is feeding them a food that is high in moisture (like pouches or canned) and low in carbohydrates.

These foods are quite similar;

We have compiled a handy article about the best foods for diabetic cats below. I would definitely recommend you reading through this as it has many safe food suggestions for diabetic cats;

However before you start your cat on a new food, I would double check the new food with your veterinarian first as glucose control can be sensitive to food changes, especially if the diabetes isn’t stable. Ideally, make the food change slowly over a period of 1-2 weeks.

I hope this helps,

Aisling
