I would love to know your thoughts on the brand 'The Cheshire Cat's Garden', my cat seems to love the 'Chicken for Senior/Sterilised Cats' recipe (he's 10), and I'm wondering whether to trial the other flavours.... but wanted to know your thoughts first, as it's quite expensive!

Hi Lorna! I'm happy to take a look at the brand and give you some of my thoughts.

At first glance, the senior chicken recipe you mentioned looks great! I like that it's a simple formula with plenty of protein and low carbohydrate content. I'd be curious about the calorie content which wasn't listed on the website. Sometimes recipes like these are very low-calorie but the fat content looks high enough that this might not be the case. As long as your cat seems to be maintaining a healthy weight, I'd say keep it up!

As for the other recipes, they look good too. I like that there's some flavor variety, though everything does seem to be mostly chicken-based. Every recipe seems to have over 50% protein and more than 20% fat (measured as dry matter) with very low carbohydrate content.

I can see how cat food like this might be pricey (especially since it comes in pouches rather than cans), but I don't see anything to indicate that it's not worth the cost. Adding some flavor variety to your cat's diet is great, especially since senior cats sometimes grow picky as they age... you just want to keep your cat's appetite up so they get all the protein and calories they need.

Overall, I'd say the brand looks good and if your cat likes it, trying the other flavors sounds like a good idea!

Hope that helps,

Kate
