Biscuit the Cat Acts

Biscuit’s mom initially wanted a dog, as she had always had dogs growing up. When her apartment complex wouldn’t allow it, she adopted a cat instead–and ended up grateful that she did.

A chance meeting

Biscuit’s mom initially found him on Facebook Marketplace. She’d just moved across the country and was lonely from being away from her prior home. Like many of us, she sought out companionship in a pet.

While her partner had joked that he would leave her if she adopted a cat, Biscuit’s mom still drove six hours to adopt him from Idaho. When she saw him, she realized that the situation was worse than it seemed.

The children in the house had cut some fur out of his coat, and he was sick with pneumonia. While she hadn’t planned on raising a sick kitten, of course she brought him home!

She’ll never be lonely again!

Once he was in a better situation, with his mom nursing him back to health, Biscuit’s personality blossomed. He was the sweetest little kitten, and also the clingiest! He was glued to his mom’s hip from the start.

Biscuit was also well-behaved, even on outdoor adventures. He was friendly, affectionate, and very adventurous. Unlike most cats, he loved riding in the car.

This inspired his mom to bring him with her on her hikes. She herself loved hiking and wanted to share the fun with her new companion. Biscuit got to ride in the car on the way to his very first hiking spot.

While most cats need slow conditioning to accept new situations like this, Biscuit took to it the moment his mom set him on the ground. Since he was so clingy, she didn’t worry about him running off. He followed along at her side like a well-trained dog.

He was uniquely suited to his new lifestyle and had the exact right personality for it!

Cats vs dogs

While not every dog lover would be happy with a cat, Biscuit’s mom is glad to have him. She believes that since they treated him more like a dog, he was raised to behave more like one.

It’s true that socialization makes a huge difference for dogs and cats, but cats tend to receive less of it.

Of course, Biscuit’s mom loves both cats and dogs and acknowledges their differences. Cats’ trust often takes more time to earn, and they come to you when they want, not when you want. This is what makes her close relationship with Biscuit so special.

Biscuit’s mom believes that you should never force a cat to do anything. While he loves hiking and goes willingly, there are other things he’s more fussy about. For instance, Biscuit decides when it’s cuddle time–and when he’d prefer to have time to himself.

You can see Biscuit’s adventures on Instagram and Tiktok. He currently seems to be spending a lot of time outside where his white coat blends right into the snow!
