Imagine your cat settling in for the coziest afternoon nap. Are they sprawled on the floor in a patch of sunlight? Curled up in a tangle of blankets? A miniature couch may not have come to mind, but it might be exactly what your cat’s been wanting all along.

The FunnyFuzzy cat couch is a trendy alternative to traditional cat beds, but does it have more than good looks to offer? My professional cat testers and I tried it out to bring you this in-depth review.

Why Trust Cats.com

I’ve been researching and testing products as a member of the Cats.com team for several years but I’ve been a cat parent for much longer. With three senior cats at home, we value our naps highly and have tried just about every cat bed style.

I ordered one to find out how the FunnyFuzzy cat couch compares to other cat beds on the market. While I researched the FunnyFuzzy brand, read customer reviews, and evaluated the bed based on its practical qualities—my cats Bagel, Munchkin, and Biscuit did the real work of testing the cozy factor.

Cat Couch Bed and FunnyFuzzy Brand Overview

FunnyFuzzy offers a wide range of pet products, including beds, carriers, toys, leashes, and harnesses. It also sells practical pet essentials like grooming supplies, food and water bowls, and furniture protectors. FunnyFuzzy was launched in 2021, with offices in Albany, New York, and South Croydon, England. The products themselves are shipped from China.

Because FunnyFuzzy products aren’t made in the United States, the return policy is a little tricky. FunnyFuzzy offers a 14-day money-back guarantee—those 14 days begin as soon as your order is delivered. If you’re unhappy with the product, the only option is to email customer service and ship the item back, unused, in the original packaging.

Though FunnyFuzzy’s shipping times are longer than you’d expect from a US-based company, the product selection is extensive. For pet beds alone, FunnyFuzzy offers dozens of different styles. One of the most popular is the FunnyFuzzy faux lambswool double-layer cat couch, which is the product I tested.

FunnyFuzzy Cat Couch Features

The FunnyFuzzy cat couch looks just like a miniature sofa, complete with thick cushions on two sides and the back. It’s covered in a faux lambswool material in a striped pattern and comes in three colors: rose (pink), beige, and black-and-white.

This couch-style cat bed is available in four sizes ranging from medium to double x-large. The measurements and pricing for the four sizes are:

Size Length Width Height Price
M 25.59 inches (65cm) 15.75 inches (40cm) 11.81 inches (30cm) $128
L 31.5 inches (80cm) 19.69 inches (50cm) 12.99 inches (33cm) $171
XL 39.37 inches (100cm) 25.59 inches (65cm) 15.75 inches (40cm) $214
2XL 47.24 inches (120cm) 29.53 inches (75cm) 15.75 inches (40cm) $285

While many cat beds are sold as a single piece or as two pieces—a base with a removable cover—the FunnyFuzzy cat couch consists of six pieces.

The faux lambswool cover is one piece with slots to insert padding on the sides, back, and base. To minimize shipping costs, the padding is rolled up in the cover and it’s all vacuum-sealed into a log-shaped plastic package.

The FunnyFuzzy cat couch requires some simple assembly. Insert the two small pillows into slots on the side of the cover and the larger pillows into the slots in the back and bottom. There’s a separate zippered section to hold the egg crate foam pad on the bottom.

When fully assembled, this cat bed looks like a miniature couch. The pillows on the sides give your cat a place to rest their head, while the padded back lets them snuggle up into the bed. The foam base offers some orthopedic support.

The contents of the FunnyFuzzy shipment include four white pillows, a black and white striped cover, an egg-crate foam pad, and a plush yellow heart toy.

Because the entire fabric cover is removable, you can take the FunnyFuzzy cat couch apart to wash it. FunnyFuzzy doesn’t provide washing instructions. There’s no care tag on the fabric and no instructions on the product page.

The final feature worth noting is the non-slip bottom. The bottom zippered compartment on the FunnyFuzzy cat sofa bed—the one that holds the orthopedic foam—seems to be made from a water-resistant material and is covered in raised nubs that help keep the bed from sliding on smooth surfaces.

What We Liked:

  • Cute design available in three colors
  • Very comfortable with pillows on three sides
  • Egg crate foam base for orthopedic support
  • Quick and easy to assemble
  • Cover is removable for easy washing
  • Water-resistant base with a non-slip texture

What We Didn’t Like:

  • Materials attract fur and look a little cheap
  • Some assembly required (five cushions + cover)
  • Expensive—smallest size retails for over $100
  • Ships from China, may take several weeks to arrive
  • Limited customer service and short return window

What Did Our Test Cats Think?

Bagel decided the FunnyFuzzy cat couch is her new favorite bed. Kate Barrington / Cats.com

I ordered the black-and-white model in Medium. I received a confirmation email but did not receive any tracking information, so I had to keep checking the website for updates. The shipment arrived in the United States five days after ordering and was on my doorstep 12 days later.

I was a little skeptical when I first opened up the FunnyFuzzy cat couch. The components were tightly packaged in a vacuum-sealed roll and I was worried I would cut the fabric while trying to open it. It had a harsh smell at first but it faded quickly. Once I got everything unrolled, I had it assembled in just a few minutes. The size of the pillows made it obvious where each one went.

As far as looks go, I wasn’t initially impressed. The padding didn’t fill the cover as completely as it appeared to in the product pictures and the faux lambswool wasn’t as soft as it looked. It started attracting pet hair immediately, along with stray lint from the couch in my living room.

Inside the cover, you can see loose threads and the stitching looks a little messy. From the outside, however, the construction looks sturdy enough to withstand the kind of gentle treatment you’d expect from a cat. I doubt the bed would hold up well for an enthusiastic digger or a chew-prone puppy.

I’m still not sure the quality of the FunnyFuzzy cat couch is worth the high cost, but one of my cats truly loves it. My 14-year-old cat, Bagel, loves napping in cat beds. She’s started to show her age lately and I’ve been concerned about her comfort. Since bringing home the FunnyFuzzy cat couch, Bagel has spent most of her time curled up in it. My other cats have hardly had a chance to try it, but they don’t appear to prefer it over the other beds available to them.

What Do Customers Think of the FunnyFuzzy Cat Couch?

Customer reviews for the FunnyFuzzy cat couch are limited outside of the brand’s website. This cat couch isn’t available on Amazon, though other FunnyFuzzy products are—mostly couch covers. These appear to be sold by wholesalers, however. There’s no official FunnyFuzzy brand page on Amazon.

FunnyFuzzy has a verified profile on Trustpilot but, as of March 2024, there were only around 700 reviews. Of those, over 60% were 1-star reviews and 30% were 5-star reviews. The brand’s average rating was 2.3 out of 5 stars at the time of this review.

Positive Reviews

While only 30% of customers on Trustpilot gave FunnyFuzzy a 5-star rating, many of the positive reviews mention the brand’s cat beds specifically. Satisfied customers frequently comment on overall product quality and ease of washing. Numerous customers report that their cats really like the bed and seem to appreciate the supportive foam base.

Received the bed yesterday. My cat walked around it several times and then just laid right down. I’m so surprised because it is the first time she has accepted a new item so quickly, and she seems to love her new bed.

I love that it has an orthopedic cushion as she is 11 years old. She is comfortable and rarely leaves it. Overall quality is excellent.

Negative Reviews

The majority of FunnyFuzzy’s reviews on Trustpilot are negative. Many dissatisfied customers complain about product durability, slow shipping, and poor customer service. Negative reviews about the cat couch often mention that the product runs small.

Easy to order but took a while. Bed was wrapped in a plastic bag bound by tons of tape. Couldn’t open carefully. Snipped bottom of bed. Bed looked crazy, all distorted, creased, and a total mess.
—Donna on Trustpilot, on February 1, 2024

The customer service is very poor and the company appears to stall on every aspect of refunding money. Firstly, they give only a 14 day refund window. They don’t provide a return address until you send a photo of the product wrapped in the original packaging.
