Why Trust Cats.com

Cats.com cares about cats and the food they eat. We carefully examine each food we review. That means we spend hours researching every brand, looking at company history, ingredients, sourcing, and manufacturing processes. We also look for any recalls that might affect your cat’s health.

We read numerous customer reviews to see what other cat lovers think of the foods. When possible, we purchase the brand and have our own cats sample it, taking notes on palatability, texture, smell, and other factors. All of these elements are considered in the Cats.com standard ratings.

About Gosbi

Gosbi states that it is a family business founded in 2003. It claims that its food is environmentally friendly.

The headquarters for the company appear to be in Girona, Spain. Unfortunately for English speakers, part of the website is in Spanish, even when you select “English” as your language.

Sourcing and Manufacturing

According to GlobalPetIndustry.com, Gosbi owns its own kitchen, controls its production, and selects its suppliers. It does not make private-label foods for other companies.

The company provides lots and lots of information about its social responsibility, sustainability, and philosophy. It is the first Spanish manufacturer certified by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals —PETA. It provides few details about its ingredients or manufacturing processes.

Gosbi states that it doesn’t use artificial colors, preservatives, or flavorings. Its foods are GMO-free. The company does not use animal testing. The company claims that it has “control of purity and nutritional quality,” which probably translates to strict control. However, it does not offer any details. It states that it makes its information transparent, but other than sustainability reports, we did not find detailed information on the site. There is virtually nothing in the sustainability report about pet food.

Gosbi makes a Mediterranean diet for pets in the belief that since it is supposed to be healthy for humans, it should be healthy for dogs and cats. The food contains a high percentage of meat and fish, fruit, and vegetables from suppliers in the Mediterranean region. This makes the suppliers relatively local to the Spanish manufacturing facility.

Gosbi also uses antioxidants and prebiotics. Foods are slow-cooked at a maximum of 90 degrees Celsius (194 degrees Fahrenheit) for better protein and nutritional digestibility. That temperature is high enough to thoroughly cook meats but considerably lower than the temps for most commercial pet foods (dry and wet).

We didn’t find any specific information about the suppliers Gosbi uses or other information about the ingredients in the pet foods they produce.

Recall History

We didn’t find any recalls involving Gosbi pet foods in Spain or in other countries.

What Kinds of Cat Food Does Gosbi Offer?

Gosbi makes both wet and dry cat foods.

According to its website, Gosbi offers both a new grainfree dry range of cat foods and an original line-up of dry foods. The new grainfree foods use 100 percent “natural ingredients” (per Gosbi). Three-quarters of the ingredients are fresh meats and fish. The company uses a “ProCatVital” formulation in the foods which features a combination of nutrients, medicinal plants, prebiotics, and probiotics.

Gosbi’s original dry cat foods use dehydrated meat as a source of protein. Using this source of protein, they achieve over 90 percent digestibility. The recipes also include algae, fruits, and vegetables as sources of natural antioxidants.

Gosbi also makes two lines of wet cat foods. DeliCat is a complete food with a high fresh meat content. It’s a pâté made without cereals. Gosbi Fresko is made with meat, fish, fruit, and vegetables. Fresko is cooked in its own broth.

Gosbi also makes several veterinary diets but those diets appear to only be available for dogs.

#2 Gosbi Fresko Cat Tuna Loin With Shrimp

Gosbi Fresko products seem to be the easiest Gosbi cat foods to find online. The Fresko foods are complementary/supplementary foods so you would need to feed them with a complete food. They should not be fed alone for an extended period of time.

Fresko offers 10 recipes. They include foods for kittens, adult cats, sterilized cats, and seniors. Protein selections include chicken, beef, turkey, rabbit, ham, tuna, salmon, and shrimp. Fresko foods are cooked in a human food factory.

We looked at Gosbi Fresko Cat Tuna Loin With Shrimp. This recipe contains only a few ingredients: tuna loin (53 percent by guaranteed analysis), shrimp, rice, and seaweed. Tuna and shrimp are good sources of protein for cats, in moderation. They are also good sources of nutrients, including omega-3 fatty acids which are beneficial for cats. Seaweed is increasingly used in pet foods as a source of nutrients. It is also considered to be a natural source of taurine.

Gosbi Fresko Cat Tuna Loin with Shrimp appears to be a good complementary food for cats. Remember that it should be fed in concert with a complete diet. Available in 70 gram cans.

#3 Gosbi Exclusive Grainfree Turkey & Fish Adult Dry Cat Food

Gosbi Exclusive Grainfree Turkey & Fish Adult Dry Cat Food

Buy on Gosbi.com

Gosbi Exclusive Grainfree dry cat food comes in three formulas at this time: Chicken & Fish Kitten, Turkey & Fish Cat Adult, and Duck & Fish Cat Sterilized. All three recipes are made with three-fourths fresh meat and fish. They also include prebiotics, probiotics, nutrients, and medicinal herbs.

We looked at Gosbi Exclusive Grainfree Turkey & Fish Cat Adult. Turkey and fish make up about two-thirds of the ingredients in this food by weight before cooking. Gosbi uses both dehydrated turkey and fresh turkey. Dehydrated named meat, such as turkey, does not pose a problem as an ingredient. It means that the moisture has been removed prior to cooking. The fresh turkey in the food includes the heart, liver, and gizzard – organs that cats usually love. These organs are also very nutritious. The salmon in the food is also a mix of dehydrated and fresh.

The food also features a number of prebiotics and probiotics, along with several ingredients that are good for a cat’s gut and urinary tract health.

Gosbi Exclusive Grainfree Turkey & Fish Cat Adult is a complete food for adult cats. Many cat lovers agree that wet foods are usually better for cats because of their moisture content. However, this food appears to be a good choice if you like or need a dry food option. Be sure to keep fresh water available for your cat at all times.

We do call your attention to the fact that this food is higher in calories than many cat foods. Keep this in mind when feeding. If you like to leave dry food out for your kitty to snack on during the day, he could put on some weight.

This food is available in 400-gram packages and 2-kilogram packages.

What Do Customers Think of Gosbi Cat Food?

We had a hard time finding customer reviews for Gosbi cat foods. The brand is only sold through independent pet stores and veterinarians so we didn’t find any customer reviews online. Ultimately, we had to check the company’s Facebook page – not the best source. We’ll share what we found. We apologize for the fact that one of these reviews is older but they were all we could find.

Positive Reviews

We spend a few months a year in Spain where she was adopted from … as soon as we come back to the UK and try similar UK grain free kibble brands she refuses to eat them or we end up with tummy problems. I am trying to find out where we can buy this in the UK. Can you help please ?

Negative Reviews

We didn’t find any negative customer reviews online but again, there are very few reviews of any kind for Gosbi online.

How Much Does Gosbi Cat Food Cost?

Prices vary for Gosbi cat foods depending on the country where it is sold and the shipping costs associated with it. However, we were able to find prices for the cat food in Euros which can give you an idea of the European cost of the food.

We found Fresko wet foods for about €1.21 per 70-gram can in Italy. Sixteen 70-gram pouches of DeliCat Adult Chicken and Salmon Loaf were priced at €15.87.

Gosbi Exclusive dry food was priced at around €18.00 for 2 kg. Gosbi prices are consistent with many other good quality cat foods produced in Europe.

Overall, Is Gosbi Cat Food a Good Choice?

The information we were able to find about Gosbi cat food suggests that this is a high-quality brand. The people who feed it to their cats appear to like it. The ingredients also seem to be good quality. There are a couple of caveats about the food, however.

Customer reviews are scarce since the food is only sold in pet specialty stores and through veterinarians. Without customer reviews online, if there are any problems with the food, we may not know about them. We wish the brand spent more time discussing its ingredients and less time extolling its commitment to social issues on its website.

Gosbi also seems to be a hard food to find. We spent a lot of time looking for the food online when searching for customer reviews. We couldn’t find many sites that carried it, even in various countries.

If you live in an area where Gosbi cat food is available, this would be a good food to let your cats try. Otherwise, it will probably be difficult to obtain. If you feed Gosbi, let us know what you think of it. We think both the wet and dry foods look good.

Where Is Gosbi Cat Food Sold?

Gosbi cat food is sold through pet specialty stores and veterinarians. Gosbi doesn’t sell through sites such as Amazon or Zooplus. One reason for this is because the company doesn’t produce enough food to meet the demand for these online retailers.

The company states that it’s sold in about 45 countries and we found it online in places such as Kenya, Qatar, Israel, and Hong Kong. However, most of the vendors appear to be centered around Madrid, Spain. Many viewers on the Gosbi Facebook page asked where they could purchase the food but they didn’t receive a public reply from the company.

Note: The values in our nutrient charts are automatically calculated based on the guaranteed analysis and may not represent typical nutrient values. This may lead to discrepancies between the charts and the values mentioned in the body of the review.
