He Didn't Want Cats

Lisa’s husband didn’t want cats, but now he falls in love with every one she brings home. He’s even built their cats a tree house to hang out in, complete with steps so that they don’t have to put as much effort into climbing their favorite tree.

The “pasta cats”

“I always say this is it. I always tell my husband I’m not getting any more cats,” Lisa says. But then she finds another, and thinks it was meant to be!

She goes in with the intention of fostering them and finding them homes, but that home always ends up being her own. That’s why they have nine “pasta cats”–cats with adorable pasta-themed names.

While she bought her first cat, Jasmine, from a pet store, she found all of the others as strays.

Ravioli, Silky, and Tortellini were found at her work. It took her five days to catch Tortellini, who was a stubborn and scared kitten.

Rotini is a kitten that her husband found on the sidewalk outside, and Panda (also known as WonTon) was found at the Chinese restaurant where she likes to have lunch.

Unique personalities

Lisa says that she thinks people don’t like cats because they don’t realize how unique their personalities are. She describes her own cats’ quirks with love.

Jasmine is always offering up her butt to have her tail brushed, and Silky is the softest cat she’s ever met.

Panda is a sweet cat who lives in the garden, spending a lot of time in the old chicken coop. Tortellini and Rotini are wild, hyper kittens. Opal loves cabinets, and will come running when one is opened so that she can sit inside.

Fettuccine, lovingly nicknamed Fattuccine, loves to eat. “It doesn’t matter if she ate five minutes ago,” her mom says. “She’ll eat again.”

Penne is a quiet cat who keeps to himself. Nova is a beautiful feral cat who lives in the trees and only comes down to eat, wanting nothing to do with people.

Ravioli used to come inside, but now lives outdoors because he doesn’t like the dog! He’s the reason that her husband built the cats their treehouse.

Though he always says “no more,” his wife says that he’s a big softie who always falls in love with the new cats.

Every day when they walked their two dogs, Eli and Woody, the couple would see Ravioli in the tree. After noticing this, Lisa’s husband made wooden stairs so that he wouldn’t have to climb the trunk each day. He also added a platform made of leftover wood from another project.

This evolved to an entire treehouse for the cats, but it didn’t stop there! He’s now dedicated to building an all new house for them, and Lisa can’t wait to see it. She says that he loves to go over the top with his projects.
