Boo! the cat has such a big personality that, according to her mom, “She just has to have an exclamation point behind her name!”

A full-time adventure cat, she’s ventured through Canada, Mexico, and parts of South America. Her mom says that she’s been in almost every environment, from the desert to the rainforest.

Adopting Boo!

Boo!’s parents have been full time travellers for over eight years. First with their previous cat, who had been in their lives since college, and now with Boo!

For a while though, they took a break from cat parenthood. Losing a cat is difficult, and they needed time to heal.

Two and a half years later, they knew it was time. Luckily, they were able to meet the most rambunctious, curious cat, who brings daily joy to their lives–and slots perfectly into their travel plans.

Boo! loves her outdoor adventures so much that she purrs when she sees her harness. She spends her time exploring, climbing trees, and taking dust baths any chance she gets! Whether she’s on a sandy beach or she finds a patch of dirt, she loves rolling around and getting herself dirty! The clean-up isn’t her parents’ favorite, but Boo! has a great time.

Living Up to Her Name

She lives up to her name by being a very sneaky cat. When she’s playing with her humans, she seems to be there one minute and gone the next, only to reappear on their other side! It’s like magic, her mom says. She goes into stealth mode.

Boo! Is an affectionate cat when she wants to be, but she’s also pretty independent. “Honestly, she kind of feels like me,” her mom says. She feels like the two have a lot in common.

She brings a lot of joy and excitement to her parents’ lives, but also a groundedness that they need during their travels. As her mom puts it, “Our camper and Boo! are what make our lives feel like we have a home.”

Travel With Your Cat

There are a number of things to think about before travelling with your cat, from training to veterinary care. If you’re looking for a place to start, we recommend small outdoor excursions to slowly desensitize your cat to new environments.

Harness training is a must, but before you go outside, make sure your cat is on parasite prevention medication and up-to-date on their vaccines. These are important for any cat, but especially crucial for those who go outdoors, because they have more exposure to parasites and illnesses than indoor cats.

It’s also important to know how to read your cat, so that you can stop if they’re beginning to feel uncomfortable. Outdoor adventures should always be a positive experience, not something forced!
