In this review, we’ll discuss my experience with Litter Pearls Micro Crystals, including how well it absorbs liquids and odors, whether it made a mess outside of the litter box, and what my cats thought of the litter.

Why Trust Cats.com

I’m a lifelong cat owner with seven senior cats of my own, so I spend a lot of time scooping the litter box and cleaning the surrounding area. I’ve also talked with other cat parents about what they want to see in their cat litter, and I’ve tested several types myself over the years. From clumping to non-clumping and clay to tofu, this multi-cat home has seen it all.

I tested this particular litter for about a month, leaving it out alongside my cats’ old litter and a variety of others I was testing. I observed my cats’ usage of the litter box, scooped and mixed the litter daily, and took notes on dustiness, tracking, and odors.

Ultra Pet and Litter Pearls Micro Crystals Cat Litter Overview

Ultra Pet is a cat litter company based in South Carolina and founded in 1998. They’ve been around a long time, and Litter Pearls was one of the first silica gel cat litters on the market!

The only product line currently advertised on their website is Litter Pearls, which consists of 6 formulas as well as a probiotic litter additive that can be added to any litter to eliminate bacteria and reduce odors.

Litter Pearls Micro Non-Clumping Crystal Cat Litter Features

Litter Pearls crystal cat litter is non-clumping and almost entirely odorless. I don’t know if cats can smell it, but from a human perspective, it had little to no scent. This is great because perfumes and scented litter can deter cats from using the litter box.

Since this litter is made of micro granules, it sifts super quickly and is more comfortable on cats’ feet than larger particles, especially pelleted litters. It comes in a resealable plastic bag that I found convenient to store, as I could be sure the litter wouldn’t spill if it tipped over.

It’s long-lasting and lightweight, which makes it somewhat difficult to compare budget-wise to other litters on the market. I purchased a 7-pound bag and was able to fill an average-sized litter box with quite a bit leftover, but not enough for a complete refill. Litter Pearls recommends replacing the litter at least once a month, depending on the number of cats in the home.

What We Like

  • Odorless and low-dust
  • Lightweight
  • Small granules are comfortable on a cat’s paws and easy to sift
  • One bag can last an entire month, depending on the number of cats in the home

What We Dislike

  • Absorbent crystals don’t completely eliminate urine odor

What Did Our Test Cats Think?

Litter Pearls Micro Crystal Litter is currently being tested by our cat.

Katelynn Sobus / Cats.com

It took my cats a couple of days to warm up to this litter, but soon they were peeing and pooping in the box, even with multiple other litter types to choose from nearby.

I love how easy it is to scoop, as the small granules run right through the sifter. Litter Paws recommends scooping out any feces and mixing the litter daily, which distributes the soiled crystals so they aren’t all sitting in one place.

The litter isn’t dust-free, but it’s very low dust, and it hardly tracks at all. I did see a few tiny blue crystals in the carpet, but the area around the box required far less vacuuming than it did when I used regular clay litter in the same location.

I also like that you can see the color of your cat’s urine with this litter, as one of my oldest cats has urinary issues. This makes it easier to monitor him.

However, since the pee remains in the box, the litter does take on that color and become unsightly after a few uses. It did a great job at absorbing liquids, leaving nothing sitting at the bottom of the box, but it didn’t absorb all of the urine odor.

Overall, I would recommend this one for those looking for a good non-clumping litter that will cut down on your time cleaning around the litter box. It’s comparable in price to similar cat litters on the market, but if you’re looking for something more affordable, you might want to opt for wood pellets or non-clumping clay litter.

What Do Customers Think of Litter Pearls Non-Clumping Crystal Cat Litter?

Positive Reviews

“No one likes scooping that stuff…, well if you do you may have a clinical issue that needs professional attention. I digress. This litter makes the job much easier, and it is lasting longer than expected because it’s a bit pricier than our last litter product. Recommend.” Geary Reviewing Litter Pearls Micro Crystal Unscented Non-Clumping Crystal Cat Litter on Chewy May 10, 2025

“There is significantly less litter tracked out of the box. My fussy cat likes it better than the many others I have tried.” Sharon R Miller reviewing Litter Pearls Micro Fresh Scented Non-Clumping Crystal Cat Litter on Amazon, June 7, 2025

Reviewers praise the litter for absorbing odors well, containing little or no dust, and being well-liked by their cats. While most find it to be low-tracking, some have found it scattered throughout their homes.

Negative Reviews

“We didn’t have an issue with the first time we bought it, but after the 2nd purchase, we will definitely not be buying it again. It was so dusty that it made both of my cats sneeze. Tracked everywhere!” Tori Reviewing Litter Pearls Micro Crystal Unscented Non-Clumping Crystal Cat Litter on Chewy Mar 6, 2022

“The problem is this litter consists of tiny little balls, which would roll around the house after every litter use. We needed to vacuum after every time our cat used the litter box.” by CK, reviewing Litter Pearls Micro Fresh Scented Non-Clumping Crystal Cat Litter on Amazon, April 20, 2025

Reviewers’ biggest complaints are excessive litter tracking, dustiness, and price. Since several of the negative reviews don’t match up to my experience, and because of Tori’s helpful review describing two different bags, I wonder if some customers have gotten bad batches of the product. It may be that Litter Pearls needs a better quality control process to ensure that every bag is up to par.
