Imagine that you’re on your daily walk with your dog, and they reach into a bush only to emerge with a tiny kitten! This is what happened to one woman, who filmed herself saying, “I think I just found a lynx, or some weird type of cat.”
The kitten had black fur and ears that curled backwards at the tips, giving him a very unique appearance.
Finding a weird kitten
The kitten cried as he was taken from his hiding place, into the jaws of a much larger dog! His new mom immediately grabbed him up into her arms, where he promptly pooped on her, perhaps from fright.
Despite that, she immediately knew that this was her new best friend. He might have been messy, but he was also super sweet and cuddly.
She called her local veterinarian, who told her what to feed the kitten until she could bring him in for an appointment the next morning.
Later that night, the kitten peed on her, leaving bloody stains on her sweatshirt. This left her especially worried, because she would soon be leaving the kitten with her family while she left for Montana.
Visiting the vet
Luckily, the vet was scheduled to see the kitten first thing in the morning. She left him at the clinic so that they could run diagnostics, find out what had caused the blood in his urine, and ensure he was otherwise healthy.
She’d already scheduled a trip to Montana and had to leave before the results came back. Even though she couldn’t bring him with her, she knew her kitten was in good hands with her parents and siblings.
A brand new cat!
The veterinarian prescribed antibiotics for the kitten, which his mom says turned him into a brand new cat. He was playful and rambunctious like a normal kitten his age.
He was otherwise deemed healthy, and his new family fell head over heels in love. His mom says that they had to carefully supervise him around the dogs, especially her Siberian Husky. After a slow introduction, they now get along well, and can even be seen playing together on Tiktok.
He’s made a great addition to the family, and his mom feels good having helped him.
What about those ears?
What about the kitten’s unique appearance, you may ask? The jury is still out on that one, especially since a purebred kitten is unlikely to be found on the street. However, he may have some American Curl in his ancestry–it sure would explain those adorably curled ears!
According to the Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA), American Curls are energetic and loving cats. Their coats can be any color, and they can either be long or short-haired.
If this sweet kitten is an American Curl, he will likely grow to a medium size, with a long body and relatively short legs. His tail will be as long as his body, and his ears will retain that cute curling.
No matter his breed, we’re glad this cat found a good home with people–and dogs!–who love him. He’s so lucky to no longer live on the streets!
