With the Savannah cat’s exotic looks, no wonder many owners of these exquisite, giant cats are showcasing them on social media and gaining a following of fans for their felines.

The Savannah cat makes a great star of cat videos. It is a cross between a wild African serval cat and a domestic cat, and the closer a Savannah cat is to its wild ancestor, the more wild and serval-like the feline looks. If you spot a Savannah, this huge cat will turn your head – not only because of its size, but its tendency to enjoy uncatlike activities. Savannahs enjoy getting wet and swimming, and they enjoy being walked on a leash!

But, since a Savannah purebred can cost as much as $25,000, and some states have restrictions on ownership, most of us won’t ever have one of these regal felines in our homes. But, we can open up TikTok and live vicariously through the videos of these six Savannahs.

1. Amira

This beautiful cat’s owner calls her “just a kooky little kitty,” and numerous funny and cute videos on the TikTok page @amira_TheSavannahCat demonstrate this. Amira – an Arab name that means “Princess” – is fun to watch!

In this 9-second video with more than 891K likes, Amira is standing on her hind legs atop metal bars and exploring the light fixture attached to the ceiling. Then, her legs slip, and the quick Amira wraps herself around the bar and swings back and forth acrobatically instead of falling to the ground. Cats are amazing in their ability to land on their feet – or in this case, on a bar, acting like Pee-Wee Herman with an “I meant to do that!” vibe.

In another video, Amira’s human took her car shopping to a Hyundai dealer! Amira, clad in a cute pink bandanna, was walking on a leash – a traditionally canine activity that Savannah cats are especially cut out for – and running toward cars with captions like “OH I like this one!” and “So many features!” In a funny prop, Amira signs a paper with her paw print agreeing to get cat treats in exchange for purchasing a Hyundai. It looks like the human went home happy with a new car, and got some footage of Amira seeming to operate the steering wheel.

2. Rex

According to the TikTok account @rexthebengalsavannah, adorable, spunky Rex is a “Savangal” – a mix of Savannah and Bengal breeds. This is a good combination, since both breeds have wild roots. The page describes Rex as a “Bengal up to no good,” so I knew this was bound to be entertaining.

In a recent video with more than 2 million views, Rex’s human shows us his favorite toy: a remote-control car, which the spotted Rex has beat up a bit because it’s the best toy he’s ever had. The car pulls a yellow teaser toy for cats to chase, and the car flips itself over when it hits something. In this heartwarming video when Rex was a kitten, his human comes into the bedroom, where he is lounging on the bed. An adorable conversation ensues between Rex, who has the squeakiest kitten meow, and his mom.

In an “up-to-no-good” Rex anecdote, the human shows us a hallway with several lone socks that he dragged there. Text on the video asks whether anyone else’s cat takes their socks and sprawls them out all over the house. “Nope … just mine? Figured,” the owner writes.

Well, I did have an orange tabby cat, Tinsel, with a sock fetish. It may be annoying, but finding socks around the house created great memories. I’m sure Rex’s owner has fun with it, too.

3. Fiji

  • Number of Followers on Tiktok: 719K

This male Savannah has enormous ears and a big purrsonality with a heavy dose of mischief that is fun to watch on TikTok at @fijithekat!

I chuckle when I see videos of Fiji doing naughty cat things, like sneaking up behind his human on the top of a couch and swatting her head. Or, the giant cat playfully dragging a child down the hall by the shoe. Or, Fiji being grinchy while donning a red bow tie at Christmas time. Or, in a video with more than 147 million views, Fiji swatting his human while she tries to sweep the chimney. Or, Fiji swiping the slipper right off his mom’s foot and refusing to give it back. Fiji even jumps on the kitchen counter and harasses his mom while she is cooking. Naughty boy!

Thanks to Fiji’s owner for sharing this sassy feline giant with us.

4. Zeus

  • Tiktok: @kingzuus
  • Number of Followers on Tiktok: 720K

Named after the chief Greek god, this Savannah cat – @kingzuus on TikTok – is a character! One funny pinned video with more than 40M likes shows Zeus letting a meow as big as he is rip while his human teases him with cat treats; meanwhile, the lyrics “somebody, anybody, everybody scream” from the song Squirrels in My Pants plays. Another video shows the amazing athletic ability of the Savannah; Zeus’ people stack a wall of soda cans six layers high, and the cat can still jump over it without touching any!

Zeus is nuts about lickable, spinnable catnip balls, and many of his videos promote that. Not that a spunky Savannah like this needs catnip to go wacky.

5. Dexter

Now, this guy’s not a serial killer like in the popular TV series. But, “DexterBoycat” – whose TikTok page is @dexterboycat – is still an entertainment figure, with more than 622K followers. Dexter is an F6 Savannah cat, which is six generations removed from the African serval ancestor cat. His Savannah genes give Dexter an enormous size, but the six generations make his appearance otherwise more like a tabby domestic shorthair.

This gentle giant loves to cuddle with his human mom, like in this video, and his gargantuan size is apparent when she holds him. Dexter looks like he could be half his human’s height! When she cleans her Betta fish’s tank. Dexter watches with curiosity, but he doesn’t get into any mischief. I imagine it would feel very cozy to cuddle spoon-style with Dexter in bed. He could be a furry body pillow!

Savanna and Bengal cats are truly beautiful. Unfortunately, because they are worth so much, unethical breeders put their cats on the market several generations too early.
