Anime is one of those things where those of us who love to indulge in immersive fandoms feel right at home. With all of the genres and sub-genres within anime, there really is something for everyone, be it fantasy, drama, sci-fi, horror, comedy, or something even more niche.

If you are reading this article, then I’m willing to bet you are something of an otaku (and that you know what that means, my fellow anime nerd). And of course, that means you also love cats. Interestingly, cats and cat-like characters are abundant in many anime series.

This likely has something to do with the fact that in Japan, cats are beloved animals that represent fortune and good luck. So what better way to celebrate your love of cats and anime than to name your own precious pet after your favorite anime character?
