“We weren’t even meant to be there that Monday. We were meant to be there Wednesday!” Penny’s mom said about the day they met. She found Penny in a grocery store parking lot, and her mom’s perfect timing wasn’t the only coincidence that led to her adoption. It seems like the universe wanted these two to find each other.
Hey! I was eating that!
When she first heard Penny, her mom thought she might be hearing a kid screaming. To her surprise, it was actually a kitten.
Her and her human daughter spent fifteen minutes trying to catch Penny with no luck. She started to wish she had food on her, because then maybe the scared kitten would be more willing to approach.
That’s when another generous cat parent approached, asking if she wanted a can of cat food. It was like fate intervening in their lives, making sure everything went just right so that Penny could have a safe, loving home.
Once they set the can of food down, Penny cautiously crawled forward and began to eat. They gently scooped her up and brought her to the car before she was even able to finish her meal!
(Don’t worry, Penny, there’ll be plenty more canned food in your future!)
One dozen cats, please!
“I didn’t need another cat, and God said ‘hey, let’s make it an even twelve!’” Penny’s mom joked. It seems like the cat distribution system has been working overtime to give her as many cats as possible!
She brought Penny to the emergency vet clinic right away, since the regular vet offices weren’t open. She was scanned for a chip but didn’t have one, and a search for her owners also came up empty. It seemed like Penny had been abandoned in the parking lot.
Her mom cleaned her up and fed her, and now she’s doing great! She picked the perfect family to rescue her, because her mom loves cats and has plenty of experience caring for them.
She talked lovingly about her eleven resident cats, describing each of their unique personalities. Bean, the oldest, is shy and tends to run from new people. Gaining her trust is a slow process, but she loves her mom.
Sunny is one of those intuitive, empathetic cats who knows when her mom is upset and rushes to comfort her. Shadow is a chatty cat with a quirk–he loves to steal wet wipes!
Princess Butterscotch was rescued with multiple fractures, potentially from being hit by a car, but is recovered now and acts as the resident grouch, beating up the male cats and keeping everyone in line.
Brothers Ranger, Eugene, and Miles are brothers. Ranger is the largest cat and loves to give hugs, while Eugene was only cuddly until he was neutered, then grew more independent. Miles loves pets, but hates being picked up.
Then there’s “resident brat” Timmy who prefers playtime over cuddles and bats at people’s hands to block pets, and brothers Oreo and Leo who will hold entire conversations with their humans.
