Adventure Cat Learned How to Open Doors

When Liam’s parents decided to rescue a tabby cat from their local shelter, they had no idea how intelligent, charismatic, or sweet he would be. Their smart cat learned various naughty ways to get their attention, how to open doors and escape onto the balcony, and more!

He also became a wonderful companion and fearless adventurer, teaching us all to never underestimate a shelter cat.

Rescuing an abandoned cat

There are lots of abandoned cats in their hometown, and Liam’s parents wanted to help by taking in one of their own. They found Liam by checking the updates from their local shelter.

They say he was always lurking behind everyone else in the background of photos, and they fell in love with him immediately. “Everything was just perfect about him,” his mom says. He was cute and tiny, and his parents longed to give him the loving home he deserved.

Now, Liam is super clingy, smart, and attention seeking. He knows a bunch of tricks, including how to shake hands, lay down, sit, and stand on his hind legs.

He loves to stare at his mom or dad until he has their attention, then start knocking things off of the table or shelf where he’s sitting. He won’t stop until he gets a reaction!

The trouble-maker loves getting a rise out of his parents. Another silly thing he does is to slap their faces gently at around four or five in the morning, waiting for them to wake up and react to his shenanigans.

He’s a handful, and super cheeky, his dad says, but they adore him.

Another thing this smart cat mastered is opening doors. He jumps and pulls down door knobs, and even figured out how to slide open the doors to the balcony. His parents have to lock every door in the house, especially when they go out.

Liam doesn’t like being left home alone, so his parents try to bring him along when they can. They took him on his first adventures as a kitten, so he’s very used to his harness, the car, and going on fun trips. He even has a bed near the back windshield, and loves to stick his head out the window and feel the wind whipping through his fur.

As soon as he sees his parents putting their shoes on, Liam is ready to go! They say he gets angry when he’s not invited.

Overall, Liam’s parents love his playful spirit and his clinginess. They feel so loved by him, and appreciate the way he always wants to be by their sides.

His mom says that their lives have only improved since adopting him. He senses when they’re having a bad day and always knows how to cheer them up!
