Why Trust Cats.com
My cats and I have enjoyed 15 long years together and, over that time, we’ve sampled countless cat food recipes. Early in my tenure as a cat owner, I focused on budget-friendly brands. So, I had plenty of brand knowledge and experience to draw on in my evaluation of Wonder Bound cat food. And I had my cats’ help with the testing, of course.
Before testing Wonder Bound, however, I took the time to evaluate the brand as a whole. In my analysis, I considered metrics like recall history, sourcing and manufacturing practices, and customer satisfaction rates. Testing involved feeding the products to my cats to gauge their reaction and analyzing the product information in depth.
About Wonder Bound
Wonder Bound is an Amazon-exclusive brand marketed for family-friendly prices. It’s a private label brand made exclusively for Amazon, but there isn’t much other information available. Here’s what we know.
First off, Wonder Bound isn’t the first of Amazon’s private label pet food brands. Wag, an Amazon-exclusive line of dry dog food products, was launched in May of 2018. Amazon later expanded the product line to include wet cat food products but eventually replaced them entirely with a cat-specific brand called Kitzy. The Kitzy brand appears to have launched sometime in 2020 or 2021.
The exact launch date of Wonder Bound isn’t clear, but it doesn’t appear to be a direct replacement for Kitzy (which is still sold on Amazon). Based on the “first date available” for several Wonder Bound products on Amazon, the brand seems to have launched in May of 2022. The cat food product line is limited to wet food and includes numerous flavors and textures, each sold separately and in variety packs.
Sourcing and Manufacturing
As a private label brand, Wonder Bound cat food is distributed by Amazon but a different company is responsible for formulating and manufacturing the products. Neither the brand’s page on Amazon nor the product packaging provides any specific details about who produces the food or where it is made.
The only sourcing and manufacturing information readily available for Wonder Bound cat food comes in the form of a statement printed on the labels: “Made in the USA using globally sourced ingredients from trusted suppliers.”
Amazon describes Wonder Bound’s ingredients as “wholesome” and “high-quality” but there’s not enough information available to make an objective assessment of these claims. It’s possible the same company that makes Kitzy also makes Wonder Bound, but this doesn’t clear up questions about sourcing and manufacturing.
Recall History
Wonder Bound cat food has never been recalled. It’s worth considering, however, that the products appear to have entered the market just a few years ago in 2022.
Because there’s no specific information available about where or how Wonder Bound cat food is made, a clear recall history should only hold so much weight in an evaluation of the brand’s quality and trustworthiness.
What Kind of Cat Food Does Wonder Bound Offer?
Wonder Bound offers an assortment of dry dog food and wet cat food products. The wet cat food line includes nine different recipes featuring over half a dozen different proteins. Most of the products have a paté texture but there are a few with chunks in gravy.
Here’s a list of the cat food products Wonder Bound offers:
- Beef Dinner Paté
- Chicken Dinner Paté
- Turkey & Giblet Dinner Paté
- Cod, Sole & Shrimp Dinner Paté
- Salmon Dinner Paté
- Whitefish & Tuna Dinner Paté
- Chicken Recipe in Gravy
- Tuna Recipe in Gravy
- Salmon Recipe in Gravy
Every Wonder Bound cat food product uses the word “dinner” or “recipe” in the name. According to FDA regulations this means that at least 25% of each product’s total weight must come from the ingredient in the product name (i.e. beef, chicken, salmon, etc.). All Wonder Bound cat foods do list a specific protein as the main ingredient (after moisture), but the ingredients lists are largely filled out with animal by-products and plant proteins.
Wonder Bound cat foods are only sold in 3-ounce cans. You can purchase single flavors in a case of 24 cans, or buy 24-can variety packs of three mixed flavors. The four variety packs are divided by texture (paté or chunks in gravy) and flavor (fish and seafood or meat and poultry).
What Did Our Test Cats Think?
To test Wonder Bound and write this review, I ordered both of the variety packs. The fish and seafood paté variety pack included three flavors: Cod, Sole & Shrimp Dinner, Salmon Dinner, and Whitefish & Tuna Dinner. The other variety pack included three chunks in gravy recipes: Chicken Recipe, Turkey Recipe, and Beef Recipe.
Unsurprisingly, my order arrived quickly in familiar Amazon packaging. I chose three flavors for in-depth review and testing then got to work. My cats seemed pretty equally interested in the three flavors but preferred the chunks in gravy texture over the patés. Beef Recipe appeared to be the favorite overall.

What Do Customers Think of Wonder Bound Cat Food?
Because Wonder Bound is an Amazon-Exclusive brand, Amazon is the only place to find any significant number of customer reviews. Overall, the products seem to be fairly well-liked—all the products have an average rating of 3.9 out of 5 stars. That said, there seem to only be two product pages, one for patés and one for gravy-style products.
Positive Reviews
Satisfied customers frequently comment on the quality and affordability of Wonder Bound cat food. Many positive reviews mention the benefits of high moisture and protein levels as well.
“Since I have 5 cats and I’m on a limited income I had to think of an alternative to Fancy Feast which they have been eating. All five have unique tastes and all very picky eaters. I purchased this product and tried them each on a very small amount at dinner time. They all ate every bit and wanted more! I couldn’t be happier. This food is made with quality ingredients so I know I didn’t sacrifice the ingredients switching from Fancy Feast. This is going to not only save me money but I don’t have to worry about them getting superb nutrition. I highly recommend this this food for it’s taste, nutrition value and of course the cost in general. Give it a shot and see if your cats like it. Will buy again!” – Linda Snider reviewing Wonder Bound Gravy Variety Pack
“I have two very picky kitties, I was getting Fancy Feast. I was scrolling to see if buying here would be less expensive. It wasn’t really. THEN I came across this cat food, it’s a lot less expensive, it’s grain free and full of the nutrition they need. I decided to try it to see if they would like it..OMG DEAR GREAT ANGELS …. not only did they accept it .. THEY ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT AND BEG FOR MORE !!! Since they do I got the subscription. So cool, they love it, it’s better for them, doesn’t gouge the pocket book and delivered to your door. Thank You Amazon and thank you My Angels 😇” – Yolanda reviewing Wonder Bound Pate Variety Pack
Negative Reviews
Customers who are dissatisfied with Wonder Bound cat food often complain about the ingredients, the smell, or that their cats just don’t like it. Complaints about odor seem to be more frequent with the fish and seafood recipes. Numerous negative reviews also mention the ambiguous proteins like fish (versus salmon or cod) and meat by-products (versus whole proteins).
“I bought this food because it was affordable and looked great on paper. When I opened the cans, the food smelled and looked fine. However, our cats Will. Not. Eat. It. And my cats will eat anything – we literally have to keep food out of their reach as if we had dogs who could get on top of every surface in the house. I couldn’t even coax them to eat this food if I put treats on top.” – Kim reviewing Wonder Bound Seafood Variety Pack
“This food smells so bad and none of my 4 cats like it and my dog won’t eat it either and they love canned food. I’m not sure what is missing in the ingredients because I’m definitely not going to taste it to find out but something is obviously wrong with this recipe when all of the animals take one sniff or one bite and then walk away. I tried the food from this case several times and always the same results. So finally I put it out on my porch thinking the neighborhood strays would smell it from a mile away and they would just be thankful to have food and would devour it. They never touched it. I finally had to pick up the plates of food and just throw it away. If I shared a photo it would just be of gray uneaten seafood on a plate. Save your money and buy something you know for. Fact that your pets enjoy. Don’t be like me and jump for the good price. The price is apparently good because the food isn’t.” – Lynn reviewing Wonder Bound Cod, Sole & Shrimp wet food

Overall, Is Wonder Bound Cat Food a Good Choice?
The main thing Wonder Bound has going for it as a brand is its affordability. The products, however, exhibit some of the same downsides as recipes from similarly-priced brands. If you want to avoid animal by-products or added color, you’ll need to keep shopping. It’s also worth noting that all Wonder Bound cat foods contain multiple protein sources, so they may not be appropriate for cats with food allergies to common proteins.
Another potential benefit Wonder Bound has to offer is the relatively low carbohydrate content of the products. The gravy-style foods are generally under 15% and the patés under 10% carbs, measured as dry matter. Cats who don’t like pate may also appreciate the chunks in gravy formulas from Wonder Bound.
