Have you ever seen a Maine Coon in person? These cats are known as gentle giants with fluffy, longhaired coats. The typical male Maine Coon weighs around 18-25 pounds, but Zeus the cat weighs a whopping 28 pounds.
He’s his mom’s dream cat, as she’s always wanted a Maine Coon, but wasn’t sure if she could find breeders where she lived. Luckily, she was able to find one within her city!
Adopting Zeus
Zeus’ mom thought that Maine Coons were an exotic breed that she’d always admire on the internet, but not adopt. Then, her boyfriend asked her if there was something she wanted as a gift.
She told him she didn’t want clothes or expensive items–she wanted a Maine Coon cat. He had never heard of them before, so they both did some research and found a breeder in their city.
When she saw Zeus for the first time, he was four months old and already a big cat. He had stunning yellow eyes and a big, bushy tail. His mom fell in love immediately.
She was stuck at home with Covid, so she sent her boyfriend to make a deposit so that the breeder would keep the kitten a little longer. Instead, he came home with Zeus in hand!
“I think he healed me,” she said. She immediately felt a little better, wanting to play with Zeus and cuddle him.
A gentle giant
People aren’t used to seeing cats at Zeus’ size. His mom says that many people are afraid of him, expecting him to bite or scratch.
Like most Maine Coons, he’s actually very docile. His mom says that he’s a good, gentle boy. He’s calm, friendly, and great with kids.
Zeus is also a little lazy, never playing for long before he wants his beauty sleep. He also loves to eat and spend time with their other cat–who, hilariously, is only six pounds! His mom says that when they lay together, you can’t even see the little cat.
His mom loves spending time with him, and has taught him various tricks including how to shake paws and stand on his hind legs.
Achieving her dreams
Zeus is a dream come true. His mom says that after adopting him, she feels empowered, as though she can do anything she sets her mind to. She’s no longer afraid to dream big and reach for the stars!
Of course, Zeus has also brought a lot of love into her life. Now that she has him, she can’t imagine life without her giant cat.
