The Cattasaurus Peekaboo Cat Cave claims to offer both comfort and enrichment with its cozy top bed and tunnel-like hideaway. With its modern felt design and variety of color options, it’s definitely eye-catching—but I wanted to see how my own cats would respond. In this review, I took a closer look at the materials, design, and overall appeal to find out whether it’s actually worth the hype.

As a cat mom of many cats, I understand the importance of enrichment and how that can vary from one cat to another. Each cat has a unique personality, and what works for one cat may not work for another.
When reviewing cat furniture, I evaluate the quality, construction, materials, and price. I’m particularly critical of trendy things like this cat cave — after all, popular doesn’t equal good. I also look at how many of my cats interact with it and how. These are all factors I kept in mind as I reviewed the Cattasaurus Peekaboo Cat Cave.
Cattasaurus Brand Overview
Based out of Lewes, Delaware, Cattasaurus was officially recognized as a business in March 2022. While U.S.-based, production of the cat cave and other furniture offerings takes place in China. Aside from the Peekaboo Cat Cave, Cattasaurus also has couch covers and grooming tools, which can help prevent messes around the home. As a new company, there isn’t much history. But, according to their site, Cattasaurus prioritizes high-quality cat furniture designed to enrich a cat’s life.
For customers concerned about cost, their cat caves come with a 12-month warranty and a 100% satisfaction guarantee. For pet parents who have to return their cat cave, they have a 90-day free return policy, so long as the bed isn’t damaged or stained. It’s unclear whether this applies to couch covers and grooming tools.
Cat Cave Features

Shipping was fast and it arrived in a large, shallow box (a perfect bonus cat bed!). The top and bottom pieces came stacked together and wrapped loosely in clear plastic. There weren’t instructions for the cat cave, but the assembly seemed self-explanatory. The zipper was difficult the first time but has since been very easy to zip and unzip.
The structure of the cat cave is sturdy. According to Cattasaurus, the cat cave can support up to 30 pounds and is roomy enough for large cat breeds, like the Maine Coon. While it’s hard for me to imagine a Maine Coon inside the tunnel, the top bed portion easily supported both smaller and larger cats as they snoozed.
The felt-like material is roughly 1/8th of an inch thick, and while it has some give, it isn’t flimsy. It’s appealing for cats who like to scratch, which helps keep them away from the furniture. The cave comes in six colors—I got the charcoal dark grey and it’s been great for not showing dark cat hair.
There is a large entrance plus a fun peephole on the other side for cats to look out of and play peekaboo through.

What Did Our Test Cats Think?

Intially, my cats were curious about the new big box in the middle of the floor. But, as soon as I got the Cattasaurus zipped up, the cats were instantly curious about the new piece of furniture. Immediately following taking pictures, they were climbing on top and in it, exploring every inch. While not all of my cats are particularly interested in trying new things, those who were didn’t hesitate to make the cat cave their new favorite thing, so it sat on my couch for an extended amount of time.
Eventually, one cat claimed it as her own and spent most of her time in the cat cave, which caused the other cats to lose interest in going inside. But many still sleep on top of the Cattasaurus.
What Do Customers Think of the Cattasaurus Cat Cave?
Overall, reviewers report a very positive experience with the cat cave. Most talk about how their cats quickly take to it, playing in it, scratching it, and sleeping on top of it. For other users, though, the cat cave came dented up, and their cats were frightened rather than curious. Despite some negative reviews, most reviews for this cat furniture were overwhelmingly positive.
“My cats love this! The little peep hole is their favorite way to play. They run around the donut for hours. It’s very sturdy too, they are not gentle with it. I wish I got the bigger one as my cats are kittens right now but it’s fairly large.
Tempted to get another one for our downstairs area. They don’t use the top part as much as I thought they would but they love the inside. More of a playing structure at the moment than a resting but maybe as they get older they will use it for resting. Super light weight and easy to take apart.”- Kells, Amazon on February 7, 2025
Many reviewers comment on how their cats enjoy playing in the cat cave or sleeping on the top. Cats also seem to enjoy scratching on it and chasing each other inside. Some reviewers even go as far as refuting other reviews that complain about the zipper and packaging.

Many negative reviews for the cat cave commented on how hard it was to zip up, or in some cases, that it arrived with a broken zipper. Additionally, many users commented that it came dented up or folded up to such an extent that putting it together resulted in dents or that shipping took too long. Other reviewers mentioned it being too small and that their cats reacted negatively to it — in one case, the cat saturated a chair with urine due to the stress of introducing a new item. While shipping and a lack of instruction on assembly are a customer service issue for Cattasaurus, how individual cats react isn’t within the company’s ability to fix.
